习惯用语win by a hair就出自这里。 例句-1:It was as close as an election could be. A million people voted and the candidate I voted for won by only 350 votes. She only won by a hair but that still makes her our new governor. 例句-2:Nancy ran faster than ever before but she lost by a hair. She and the other runner had the same time, but the judges thought the other girl was just a hair in front. 例如: lose by a whisker。 Whisker是胡须,胡须和头发相比所差无几,可想而知lose by a whisker和lose by a hair意思一样。 它们是lose by a nose和photo finish。 例句-3:My daughter and her boyfriend had a hair-raising time hiking in the mountains -- they met a black bear with her cub. But they stopped, stayed quiet and finally the bears went away slowly without bothering them. 例句-4:It was hair-raising! There was a terrible rushing sound, the windows blew in and I saw tree-limbs sailing by. I heard loud bangs and crashes -- I thought my house would blow away! Id like to have my hair permed. A:Do you want to have your hair cut?甲:您要剪发吗?B:I d like to have my hair permed? A:What kind of curl do you like?甲:你喜欢什么样的卷发呢?B:I like the big curls. A:OK. That will fit you. Id like to have a curly look. A:Id like to have a curly look. B:Permanent wave or cold wave? /201410/333602

Michael: Alright, so Simon, do you have a favorite movie? Simon: Again, thats difficult question so I cant say one favorite movie but I can say that I really, really enjoyed The Lord of the Rings, well mainly because as a elementary school student I the book, and as a small child my father would tell me stories about Lord of the Rings so when they finally came out on the big screen with big money production and awesome special effects, yeah, I was quite impressed. How bout you? 你呢?Michael: Oh, I liked it as well, and I the book when I was in high school. I like the movies a lot but it still doesnt compare to the first time ing the book. The book was fantastic but of all the adaptations of that book this movie is probably the one, or those three movies are probably the one that I enjoyed the most. Simon: Yeah! Thats true! A lot of adaptions are really quite terrible arent they? Michael: Which of the three did you like the most? Simon: I liked the first one. The first one. It has story and it had, you know, what-will-happen-next anticipation and yeah, but all three were good. Michael: Well, its interesting, youre favorite is a trilogy, and my favorite is a trilogy too, and thats the Godfather trilogy, and my favorite is the second one. Simon: Oh, you like the second one. Thats surprising! Most people like the first one the best. Michael: I like the first one a lot but I like the second one because DeNiro is in it and I like the story of Don Corleone in Sicily as well. Simon: Ah, yeah, flashbacks!西蒙:对,倒叙!Michael: Yeah, and I think that the real conflict in the story comes out in the second one. More so than in the first. I see the Godfather trilogy to be very similar to a Shakespearean kind of trilogy, tragic, I think that Michael Corleone is a tragic hero and I like Shakespearean trilogies to so perhaps thats why I like it. Simon: Oh, thats a really good explanation. /201402/277695
