于是《华盛顿邮报》的文章发表了这样的:例句-1:Until now Mr Greenspan had been ;gung ho; for using the budget surpluses to reduce the federal debt, so why the change of heart? Carlson当时对部下反复宣讲gung ho精神,以致gung ho在全军上下深入人心,成为军内人员生活的一部分,比方说往卡车上装货的军人会对碰巧走过的士兵这样说:例句-2:Hey, how about a little gung ho on the box? 例句-3:Paula is certainly gung ho on equal rights for women. You see her at almost every rally in Washington, chanting slogans and carrying signs that demand equal rights for women. Making them destroys what little is left of the forests. Im impressed with the truck driver who is so gung ho on environmental protection that he carries his own set of chopsticks and washes them after every meal! 这段话里的be gung ho on... 例句-4:The disposable chopsticks are such今天要学的第二个习惯用法起源于另一种外语。 例句-5:Tumbling stock prices and the low level of consumer confidence are some of the bugaboos that can bring the nations economy down from the present level. /201409/327984

And then, what else? Everything, you can. Todd: Ramen manga? Kawabe: Ramen manga! There is. Seriously! Ramen manga! Salaryman manga. School teacher manga, and any kind of home drama, or the stories of novel can be manga. Manga script. So, its, OK, imagine the movie. Yeah! You can make up everything. Troy! Old ancient greek stories! Or the like the, the future stories, like, and the, you know, whatever it is. You know. You just make it up,and write it or draw it. Todd: Why do you think manga is so popular? Kawabe: Because, its like the hollywood movie, in the states the hollywood movie is so popular, because its the field you can express your imagination, where you can play with your imagination, and how do you say? Todd: Like its not real. Kawabe: Yeah, its not real. Todd: Escape reality. Kawabe: Uh-huh, its the, like a neverland. Todd: Fantasy! So, in Japan its the manga instead of hollywood movies, I think. Todd: Thats really interesting. So do you still manga? Kawabe: I used to a lot, a lot, but now I dont much as I was ing, OK, for example, how much do I ? Like one story in three months. Todd: You mean one manga story in three months. Oh! so you still manga sometimes? Kawabe: Sometimes! Like sometimes my friend recommended, or sometimes I saw a good review on the magazine. Yeah, I pick up some and I them when I got time, but not very much recently. /201404/285986

I agree. What were your students like? Yoko: They were really motivated to learn Japanese, but they didnt learn a lot. Do you have any special memories from your trip? Yoko: Yes, I visited lots of places by myself and I was really afraid of speaking English to people there but they tried to understand me, and they helped me a lot and I really think OK, they are lots of people who are nice all over the world.

Wall当然是墙壁,up the wall字面意思是上墙。 我们听听那是怎么回事儿:例句-1:At dinner they sit right next to me staring up with those big, sad eyes like theyre starving. This drives me up the wall; they wont stop begging until I sneak a bite of food under the table for them. But theyre getting as fat as a pair little pigs. Up the wall时常和动词drive搭配。 好,我们来听他怎么说:例句-2: Joe, I have to tell you - your work is simply not up to scratch. Youre slower than others in your department and the results arent as good. Well give you a couple of months to improve, but if you cant, Im very much afraid well have to let you go. 一个是: up to par。另一个是: up to snuff。Up to par和up to snuff跟up to scratch一样,都可以用来表示“符合标准的,” 但是up to snuff还常用来说某人处于正常的健康状况。 He feels up to snuff. 我们听听他给Bob什么忠告:例句-3:Bob, be smart and shop around in regular jewelry stores. Stay out of those upmarket places that charge more for the same stones. Remember they have to pay a lot higher rent and spend a lot more on furniture just to impress people like us. /201410/329760
