Two months later, I reached Geneva. That evening I hid among some trees outside the town, and went to sleep. But I woke when a little boy ran into my hiding place. I thought I would catch the child and make him my friend before he was old enough to be frightened of my terrible face.I caught the little boy, but when the child saw me, he covered his eyes with his hands and screamed loudly. ;Let me go, you monster,;the child shouted.;Let me go,or I will tell my father, Mr Frankenstein. He will call the police, and they#39;ll punish you.;“放开我,你这个怪物。” ;Frankenstein!;I shouted.;You belong to my enemy, the man that I want to hurt.;“弗兰肯斯坦!” The child fought and screamed, and I put my hand round his neck to stop him shouting. In a moment, the child lay dead at my feet.I looked down at his body, and was pleased with what I had done. I knew that the death of this child would hurt you,Victor Frankenstein,my creator. Then I saw something bright round the child#39;s neck. It was a gold chain, and on the end of it was a picture of a very beau-tiful woman.I knew that a beautiful woman would never smile at me, and I wanted to run into Geneva and kill as many people as I could. But I stopped myself, and went to look for an-other hiding place.Soon I found a hut, which seemed to be empty, but when I entered I saw a pretty young woman asleep on the floor. I hated her because she was pretty. So I put the gold chain into one of her pockets, and then, before she could wake up, I ran away.I knew the police would think that she had killed the little boy. 33Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. 2He did evil in the eyes of the Lord , following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. 3He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had demolished; he also erected altars to the Baals and made Asherah poles. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. 4He built altars in the temple of the Lord , of which the Lord had said, "My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever." 5In both courts of the temple of the Lord , he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord , provoking him to anger. 7He took the carved image he had made and put it in God's temple, of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, "In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever. 8I will not again make the feet of the Israelites leave the land I assigned to your forefathers, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them concerning all the laws, decrees and ordinances given through Moses." 9But Manasseh led Judah and the people of Jerusalem astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites. 10The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention. 11So the Lord brought against them the army commanders of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon. 12In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. 13And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God. 14Afterward he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, west of the Gihon spring in the valley, as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate and encircling the hill of Ophel; he also made it much higher. He stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah. 15He got rid of the foreign gods and removed the image from the temple of the Lord , as well as all the altars he had built on the temple hill and in Jerusalem; and he threw them out of the city. 16Then he restored the altar of the Lord and sacrificed fellowship offerings and thank offerings on it, and told Judah to serve the Lord , the God of Israel. 17The people, however, continued to sacrifice at the high places, but only to the Lord their God. 18The other events of Manasseh's reign, including his prayer to his God and the words the seers spoke to him in the name of the Lord , the God of Israel, are written in the annals of the kings of Israel. 19His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, as well as all his sins and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself-all are written in the records of the seers. 20Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried in his palace. And Amon his son succeeded him as king. 21Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years. 22He did evil in the eyes of the Lord , as his father Manasseh had done. Amon worshiped and offered sacrifices to all the idols Manasseh had made. 23But unlike his father Manasseh, he did not humble himself before the Lord ; Amon increased his guilt. 24Amon's officials conspired against him and assassinated him in his palace. 25Then the people of the land killed all who had plotted against King Amon, and they made Josiah his son king in his place. What would life be like without Microsoft? Impossible? Perhaps not impossible, but definitely difficult. Microsoft seems to be a big part of our lives today. Most of us use Microsoft products every day. We need MS Word to create documents and Excel to make spsheets. At school we have to make PowerPoint presentations. Perhaps the biggest thing we use Microsoft for is getting on the Internet. Most of the world’s computers use the Explorer browser to connect to the Web. Millions of us use Hotmail to send e-mails. Millions more play games using Microsoft’s X-Box. In the future, there’ll probably be a lot more Microsoft stuff that helps us in our life. And to think, Microsoft didn’t even exist a few decades ago. Article/201106/138768滨州鼻部眼部整形多少钱 God created us all. God created life. God created everything around us. I often try to think what was before God. But God has always been there, so there was nothing before God. I wonder why God always appears as a man with a beard in books. He’s also usually a white man. No one knows if God is a man or a woman. God is also different to different religions. Most people in the world pray to God. They ask for forgiveness when they do something wrong; they thank God for bringing good things and ask for God’s help when things go wrong. People who believe in God get strength from their belief. They know that God is looking down on them. One thing I don’t understand is why there is so much killing and bad things in the world. Article/201104/134110莱芜除皱祛疤多少钱

`Here! you may nurse it a bit, if you like!' the Duchess said to Alice, flinging the baby at her as she spoke. `I must go and get y to play croquet with the Queen,' and she hurried out of the room. The cook threw a frying-pan after her as she went out, but it just missed her. Alice caught the baby with some difficulty, as it was a queer- shaped little creature, and held out its arms and legs in all directions, `just like a star-fish,' thought Alice. The poor little thing was snorting like a steam-engine when she caught it, and kept doubling itself up and straightening itself out again, so that altogether, for the first minute or two, it was as much as she could do to hold it. Janelle used the phone of the helpful woman to call Cliff. Cliff played golf with a medical doctor almost every Saturday. Perhaps Dr. Kildare could look at her injuries. Cliff, angry but glad his wife was alive, said he would be there shortly. She told him to bring their son and her spare set of car keys, because her keys were in the stolen purse. Cliff and Donovan arrived just before the police officer finished filling out his report. Cliff hugged his wife gently. He told Donovan to drive home in Janelle’s car. Cliff then asked the officer what the chances were of catching the attackers. The officer shook his head. “Not good,” he said. He told Cliff that robberies like this one happened daily throughout southern California. “Thugs are everywhere, prowling around like sharks in the ocean, looking for prey.” Cliff asked the officer what could be done. “I know this sounds ridiculous, but we police can no longer protect you law-abiding citizens. There’s simply too many criminals. Tell all your female relatives and friends one thing: Don’t go anywhere alone, day or night. A woman by herself, even in public, might as well be carrying a bright neon sign that says: ‘Victim here—Come and get me!’ I’m not supposed to be telling you this, because if the word gets out, tourism will suffer in southern California.”The officer asked Janelle to sign the police report. He wished her a speedy recovery, and promised to do his best to help put the culprits behind bars. He reminded both of them that the two thugs now had their credit cards, address, car keys, and house keys. He suggested that they make the appropriate phone calls, change the locks to their house, and get new keys programmed for her car. Cliff told the officer that a couple of his friends were at his house, with guns, watching for intruders. Cliff and Janelle thanked the officer and the helpful woman. Cliff drove Janelle straight toward Dr. Kildare’s house.“Maybe we should move,” he told Janelle. “To another city?” she asked. “To another state,” he said.
